Southeast Asia is currently the region offering the best value for money on Earth
In 10 years of living and traveling in Southeast Asia, I have never seen such incredible value, with hotels competing with far fewer foreign visitors. The Thai tourism giant, for example, received 3.3 million international visitors per month in 2019 – but only 5% of that amount in January and February this year. Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines, which have just started to welcome tourists again, also need foreign customers.
As well as quieter resorts and low prices, Covid rules are also being relaxed, providing an added incentive to visit. From May, vaccinated British tourists no longer need to self-quarantine or take a test upon arrival in Thailand, Singapore or Vietnam. Southeast Asia’s hotel price wars aren’t limited to the low season from April to September, with the following five-star properties also offering premium rooms at rock-bottom rates after this period.

This 19-storey hotel offers stunning views of the KL skyline from the floor-to-ceiling windows of its guest rooms, which are very spacious, starting at 40 sqm.
