The long hiatus due to the coronavirus was the perfect opportunity to undertake a major renovation program in the luxurious 5-star resort, which now has 272 rooms and suites. Although it was planned long before the pandemic, the forced shutdown brought it to an end quickly. 60 generous rooms have been added to the complex.

New “Annon 1743” The restaurant, built in the historic ruins of Balaclava and housed in the original French mill dating from 1743, is another highlight of the completed renovation.

The Maritim Resort & Spa is set amidst tropical gardens on the edge of Turtle Bay, one of the most beautiful bays in the island’s sunny northwest. When it opened in 1990, the 25 hectare property was one of the first large hotels on the island and therefore blends in perfectly with its surroundings.

With its sauna, hammam, jacuzzi and spa and beauty treatment rooms, the “Spa with tropical maritime flowers” offers pure relaxation. He has already won the “Luxury spa of the world” and has been repeatedly voted the most beautiful spa in Mauritius and the entire Indian Ocean region.

Equally exceptional is the hotel’s equestrian facility, perfect for long walks along the beach. The island is also home to considerably slower creatures. For many years, the impressive giant tortoises have roamed the hotel’s vast park, to the delight of our youngest guests who like to admire them up close. The daily newspaper of the hotel “Turtle Club” offers even more excitement for children.

In addition to the hotel’s 9-hole golf course with its beautiful setting, there are tennis courts and a gym, sailing, surfing, water skiing and a diving school, making it the ideal destination for sports enthusiasts.

The gourmet restaurant “Chateau Mon Désir” is another strong point of the resort. For many years it has been the island’s gastronomic destination for visitors and locals alike, hosting regular guest residences of top international chefs. The vacation paradise has no less than 12 restaurants and bars to suit all tastes.
