Bermuda hospitality veteran Shawn Lekki has been promoted to director of catering at the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club.

He also becomes a member of the hotel management team.

The hotel said the lead and essential role will see Mr. Lekki leading the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the hotel’s restaurants, bars and events.

Mr. Lekki was until recently Deputy Director of Food and Beverage.

The hotel said Mr. Lekki had over 25 years of experience managing all facets of restaurant operations.

He said Mr. Lekki has been with the hotel since 2014 and with Fairmont since 2002, where he has steadily risen through the ranks, from banquet assistant maitre’d to beverage director to maitre’d, making a name for himself. in local hospitality. industry.

He was manager and owner of Sunsets Bar and Restaurant at Ocean View Golf Course from 1996 to 1998 and manager of Club 40 from 1998 to 2003.

While working at the Princess, Mr. Lekki completed cross-training at a partner hotel, the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess – an AAA Five Diamond Fairmont property – in 2019.

The month-long program allowed him to experience first-hand food operations in the largest hotel and covered budgets, daily culinary and management operations, marketing vision and restaurant sales tactics and much more. more, said the hotel.

Mr. Lekki attended the Penn State Co-op Program at the University of Shippensburg in Pennsylvania from 1990 to 1993, where he majored in applied physics, before completing his postgraduate year at Kent’s Hill, Maine.

In 2012, he received a certificate from Cornell University for Food Service Management.
