Almost all hotels in Cork City are fully booked for the Saturday Night Jazz weekend.

Next month will see a serious buzz on Leeside as the famous festival runs from October 22-25 – and begins on the same day most Irish restrictions are expected to be lifted.

The hugely popular weekend windfall will be the first time in more than 556 days that bars, restaurants and cafes will be able to open until the early hours of the morning – so it’s no surprise that everyone is scrambling to be a part of it.

At the time of writing, the majority of hotels in the city are booked on Saturdays, with only hotels in neighboring cities showing on Booking.com.

The Airport Hotel was the closest to the city with availability and a double room starts at € 223.

In contrast, a room there on Saturday 17th starts at € 124, which is almost € 100 cheaper.

Many hotels are available in the city on Friday, Sunday and Monday evenings, but demand for rooms has also pushed up prices.

The schedule for the big weekend is still being worked out according to the bosses, but they promise to broadcast it “in the next few weeks.”

One of the most important and longest-running events on the Irish music calendar, it was canceled in 2020 in accordance with government guidelines.

Commenting on this year’s festival, Rory Sheridan, Head of Partnerships at Diageo Ireland, said: “We are absolutely delighted to confirm that the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival 2021 will take place this bank holiday weekend in October, 22-25. October.

“This will be the first major festival in Ireland since the pandemic to take place, which is a milestone not only for musicians and the events industry which has been one of the hardest hit industries, but also for festival-goers who were expecting some good news.

“We look forward to announcing full festival details, including lineup over the next few weeks.”
