Elias Assay named general manager of the St. Regis Washington DC
The St. Regis Washington DC has announced the appointment of Elias Assaly as the hotel’s General Manager. A respected leader in the luxury hospitality industry, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role at The St. Regis Washington DC, and his appointment marks his return to the St. Regis family, having served as the General Manager of ‘opening. of the St. Regis San Francisco.
Assaly joins The St. Regis Washington DC from Northwood Hospitality where he served as Vice President and Regional General Manager overseeing Naples Grande Beach Resort, Cheeca Lodge & Spa, Tranquility Bay and Naples Grande Golf Club. Under his leadership, he managed the revival of Naples Grande Beach Resort, setting a new vision for the property following its pandemic hiatus. Assaly held his first general manager position in 1998 as the opening general manager at W San Francisco. Shortly after, he first joined the St. Regis brand in 2004, as opening general manager of the St. Regis San Francisco, where during his tenure he led the team to achieve the very coveted Mobil 5 Star Award in the first year of operation. Assaly has also served as Vice President of Operations for Rosewood Hotels & Resorts in Dallas; chief operating officer at Cortland Partners in Atlanta; Vice President of Operations, Managed Group, Americas for Radisson Hotel Group in Minneapolis; as well as positions at the Grand Wilea Maui, the El Conquistador Resort in Puerto Rico, the Ritz Carlton Buckhead and the Grand Hyatt in Washington DC.
Assaly attended the American University of Beirut where he received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry. He continued his education at Oklahoma State University where he earned a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering. He translated his passion for science into a passion for service, starting his first job in hospitality after graduating. With over three decades of experience in the luxury hospitality industry, Assaly has demonstrated her enthusiasm for creating a culture of teamwork and inclusion. With a pedigree from some of the best brands in the hospitality industry, Assaly enjoys being nimble and innovative while instilling pride and inspiring the teams he is fortunate enough to work with.
