The certification makes the Courtyard Hotel the first hotel and 21st building in the area to be recognized for its sustainability and premier green design.
The 4-star green certification is internationally recognized and provides an objective measurement for green buildings, recognizes and rewards environmental leadership in the real estate sector.
Commenting on the accolade, Giles Pendleton, Director of Development at Attacq, said: âIt is a great honor for another of our buildings, the Courtyard Hotel Waterfall City, to be recognized for its sustainability standards and environmental awareness. We are pleased that our efforts to making Waterfall City and the logistics hub safe and sustainable spaces is paying off, affirming our commitment to sound environmental management and top-notch green design.
One of the node’s attractions and lifestyle offerings, the Courtyard Hotel Waterfall City, launched Phase 1 in March 2021. Phase 1 included commercial spaces such as basement, ground floor and the ninth floor, as well as 84 rooms and four suites. The remaining 80 rooms will be brought online in later phases depending on demand.
In keeping with the standards set with all Waterfall City developments, the Courtyard Hotel has been built with eco-friendly principles in mind. The hotel has implemented efficient water and electricity designs and smart metering systems and software to consolidate data displayed on permanent screens strategically placed throughout the foyer to ensure ongoing education and awareness of customers and staff. This initiative demonstrates the hotel’s commitment to maintaining sustainable practices beyond design and construction, but throughout the development lifecycle.
âSmart, eco-friendly designs are at the heart of all of our developments, especially in the Waterfall area, and it is encouraging that the dedication and hard work of the team is continually recognized. At Attacq, we believe that buildings are an integral part of our communities and must therefore be constructed in a sustainable manner for people and the environment in general. This distinction brings us one step closer to becoming a world-class green city â, concludes Giles Pendleton, Director of Development at Attacq.
