A COUPLE ended up penniless after having to pay for a Spanish package with their pocket money following an apparent mistake by a tour operator.

27-year-old Anastasia Abramova and her boyfriend had accumulated over £ 1,500 with Teletext Holidays for a relaxing 12-night all-inclusive stay in Tenerife.

But their dream getaway to the Canaries turned into a nightmare after arriving at their four-star hotel in Los Cristianos and they were told they had not received payment for their reservation.

Anastasia, from Norwich, Norfolk, and her partner had to shell out an additional £ 1,300 for hotel costs after arriving at the Paradise Park Fun Lifestyle Hotel on September 5 – although they have already paid for their trip online for weeks more early.

Payment had not been sent to the hotel due to an error in the reservation system.

Part-time housekeeper Anastasia was left in tears as she begged Teletext to return the money so they could pay for their accommodation.

‘HORRIBLE’

After delivering all of her £ 800 in cash to the hotel, she had to ask her parents to transfer the remaining funds after she said Teletext failed to return the funds to her account on time.

The money was not returned to them until four days before their vacation ended, Anastasia said.

Anastasia told Sun Online, “We had nothing at all. If we weren’t all inclusive, I don’t know what we would have done.

“We didn’t have a penny after paying the hotel the first sum of money.

What was supposed to be a great vacation was really not very pleasant

Anastasia abramova

“It’s horrible. What was supposed to be a great vacation was really not very pleasant.

“I was really pissed off. I was broken down during the whole vacation. i would never go with them [Teletext] never.”

They booked the vacation “to go relax” after spotting what “looked like a good deal online”.

But after checking into the hotel on Sunday evening, they received a note at the door the next morning asking them to come to reception.

She said: “The manager was present at the reception and stated that our accommodation had not been paid for.

“It was £ 1,301 for accommodation. This was paid to Teletext by myself a month before our flight.

“They didn’t pay it at the hotel and they didn’t let us know.

“Not only that, they completely refused to solve it. They didn’t help us at all.

‘ABANDONED’

“They didn’t do anything for us, they kept telling me, ‘I can’t help you’ when I was at the reception.

“They dumped someone in a foreign country and then refused to help. I did not know what to do.

After Anastasia called Teletext, she received a voicemail message apologizing for the payment not made due to a “problem”.

They were told a refund would be in their bank account within two business days, she said.

‘VERY PLEASANT’

Anastasia added: “I called them really annoyed. We only took £ 800 with us which was our pocket money.

“We didn’t expect something like this to happen. I called them and said, “I don’t have the money to cover the hotel”.

“He said, ‘I can’t do anything. I was really pissed off.

” I did not know what to do. I was crying.”

She told the hotel: “I have £ 800 in my bank account, this is my pocket money. I have no more money with me”.

Anastasia was left in tears after the hotel said it had to pay the accommodation fee again

After paying part of the unpaid bill with their own money, Anastasia said her parents sent the rest.

She added, “The refund arrived on the 13th – four days before we got back on the plane.

“If my parents hadn’t sent me this money, we would have slept on the beach – and they didn’t care.”

They were reimbursed for the accommodation, but Anastasia is asking Teletext for compensation after speaking to the Citizens Advice Bureau.

A spokesperson for the hotel confirmed to Sun Online that Anastasia had to pay the funds herself as they had not received her reservation from Teletext to process the payment.

A spokesperson for Teletext Holidays said: “Please note that this was a system error which resulted in the problem which arose, but the customer was reimbursed while on vacation.”

From hotelier to data scientist – hotel management https://hotelduomo.net/from-hotelier-to-data-scientist-hotel-management/ https://hotelduomo.net/from-hotelier-to-data-scientist-hotel-management/#respond Thu, 23 Sep 2021 23:00:00 +0000 https://hotelduomo.net/from-hotelier-to-data-scientist-hotel-management/ My name is David Nguyen and I love life again. My name is David Nguyen and I love life again. After completing my Bachelor of International Business in Hospitality and Hospitality Management from Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (NSW, Australia) in the midst of a global pandemic, with the hospitality industry in crisis, I never thought I would would say these words.

My young hotel career was planned for the next 3-5 years (I’m Gen Z; five years is a long time) starting with a job in a hotel reservations department. Then, the goal was to become Revenue Manager, which would allow me to quickly become general manager of a hotel. It was the pre-COVID plan.

They say that when one door closes another opens and I was lucky enough to become the first intern for Book Me Bob, the AI chatbot developed for hotels by hoteliers.

When I’m not looking at the data from Book Me Bob, I’m working hard to get a double degree in Master of Business Analytics and Master of Information Systems Management at Macquarie University, Australia. This will bring me a little closer to my goal as a data scientist.

My main role is to analyze data from AI chatbots and create analytics reports that will help hotels in the future. I also create hotel case studies using AI chatbot data, analyzing them for trends or conclusions. For example, we know that Book Me Bob reduces the number of low-performance phone calls to its properties by up to 25%.

Case Study – 5 Star Hotel in UK

Renowned for its level of luxury and prestigious clients, interaction with guests at this hotel is essential. Telephone communication is one of the earliest forms of contact between the hotel and its customers.

Looking at the data collected over a 12 week period, we can see how Book Me Bob has helped the hotel.

When the hotel reopened in week 9, call volumes skyrocketed from around 200 calls per day to over 1,600. Although the interest in call volume was a excellent news, this has put enormous pressure on the already limited number of employees and the operation.

This is where Book Me Bob was able to step in and make an impact. Commissioned on week 13. Customers calling the hotel were informed of this new service in a recorded telephone message, which resulted in a significant increase in the number of abandoned calls from 12% to 25%. Instead of waiting in line, guests have chosen to use the hotel’s website and Book Me Bobs’ chatbot services, reducing stress and workload for hotel staff.

Guest engagement with Book Me Bob hit 38 hours in June and 23 hours in August. At a time when the industry is 30% less staffed, this equates to precious time that staff can perform other tasks.

Not only does Book Me Bob help deliver greater operational efficiency of a property, but it also delivers an important customer service experience and helps drive more direct business through its pre-arrival customer engagement. However, its greatest asset in a data-driven world is the intelligence of the data it collects on what customers are looking for – a competitive advantage that only big brands and OTAs had before.

AUGUSTA, Mo. (KMOV.com) – A 12-hole championship golf course will soon join the long list of projects included in a $ 100 million investment in the Missouri wine country.

Investor David Hoffmann, of Hoffmann Family of Companies, unveiled the route plans at Balducci Vineyards in Augusta.

“I think the first hole is going to be 465 yards, so it’s tough from the par 4 and the championship tees,” Hoffmann said. “It’s going to cross the lakes in there, there are little rocky cliffs, all kinds of beauty.”

Hoffmann is currently in the licensing process and hopes to inaugurate the course in the spring of 2022. Rees Jones, son of renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., will design the course.

“It’s a 12-hole golf course, but you can play one of the six-hole loops a third time to have an 18-hole course,” Jones said. “The 12 holes really became popular during COVID when people were working from home and didn’t want to spend all day golfing, just a few hours in the morning or afternoon.”

Plans to organize local, regional and national tournaments are also under discussion.

The course joins several other projects currently underway, including the project of a 5-star hotel with 60 rooms. If approved, it will be along Highway 94 between Jackson and Church Street as you enter downtown Augusta.

The Hoffmann family of companies has also purchased the neighboring campus of Emmaus Homes, which will be converted into a smaller 18-room luxury hotel. In between, it is estimated that 300 jobs will be brought to Augusta.

“I think it will be a destination in itself, but if you want to do something else while you’re here, great,” Hoffmann said.

Aesthetic upgrades have already been made to several wineries and vineyards acquired over the past year, including Mount Pleasant Estates and Balducci Vineyards. Fresh paintings, new roofs, lighting and restoration of century-old cellars have been completed.

A 500-seat amphitheater is also planned for the Balducci property, with final details still being worked out.

Over the next month, Hoffmann said people can expect to see a 96-foot luxury yacht docked near downtown St. Charles, as the company awaits construction of a larger wharf at Klondike Park in Augusta. The boat will make round trips and offer sightseeing cruises, sunset cruises and host private events.

“He’s already booked,” he said. “We are really excited about what he has to offer in this area.”

In total, the Hoffmann family of companies acquired six vineyards and four wineries, including Montelle, Mount Pleasant Estates, Balducci Vineyards and Augusta Wine Company. A trolley system connects the four wineries on weekends, commuting between 500 and 1,000 people over the three-day period.

For the first time, Hoffmann said 60,000 bottles of wine made in Augusta were shipped out-of-state to Florida.

“I just hope we don’t run out of wine!” he said.

It looks like everyone is or has been in Mykonos at some point this summer, and it’s no surprise. The Greek island has been a vacation destination for celebrities, fashion stars and world travelers for years, and while tourism has surely suffered in the first year of the coronavirus pandemic, hotels, restaurants, beach clubs and bars have found safe ways to accommodate people.

Luxury hotels like the Myconian Villa Collection and lavish beach clubs like SantAnna have put in place strict COVID-19 protocols and have managed to come back stronger than ever, with stunning new suites, facilities, menus and a sea of enthusiastic customers.

Myconian collection

The Myconian collection, the most majestic collection of villas and resorts in all of Mykonos, worked throughout the pandemic to open new locations across the island – the Panoptis Escape, perfect for a relaxing retreat, being the last. The other nine hotels in the Collection are: Ambassador, Avaton, Imperial, Korali, Kyma, Naia, Royal Myconian, Utopia and the Myconian Villa Collection.

The Collection, founded in 1979 by George and Elefteria Daktylides, is today run by the couple’s four sons: Panos, Markos, Vangelis and Marios. While each property enjoys splendid views of the island, whether over the hills, the sea, or the bustling city center, each has its own unique interior design style. The Myconian Villa collection, for example, features elegant black and pink accents and furniture, as well as spectacular lighting fixtures. It’s a welcome contrast to Mykonos’ famous white landscape – and the dark, rich vibe pairs well with the resort’s panoramic views over the Aegean Sea.

To ensure the safety of visitors during the current global health crisis, hoteliers have ensured that their staff members always wear face covers and are regularly tested for COVID-19. The 5-star restaurants, common areas, and hotel suites, including private villas, are regularly sanitized, and guests are offered antibacterial gel, hand wipes, and face coverings daily. A COVID-19 test or a negative vaccination card is also required to stay at one of the hotels in the Collection.

Due to their success in implementing these security protocols, the resorts have recently been able to open their doors to many travel influencers, international celebrities and fashion entrepreneurs. The Blonde Abroad visited the Mykonian Villa Collection this summer, as did Kristallik Blue, Olesya Gevorkyan and Isabella Garofanelli.

The incredible gastronomy of hotels is also back and now offers selections of the best wines and seafood of Mykonos, following a shortage of food and water on the island.

Saint Anne

Speaking of great food and drinks, Saint Anne– undoubtedly the first beach club in Mykonos – has not only reopened its doors to visitors, founder Dimitris Christoforidis is working to expand the spot’s offer to make people’s experience even more lavish, as the world is can’t wait to relive the good life.

Unlike any other beach club on the island, SantAnna offers an award-winning organic Mediterranean menu, pool and beach cabanas and lounge chairs on beautiful Paraga Beach as well as private tables with exclusive rooms below, in order to that party animals can enjoy more privacy.

It also has a helipad, in case you plan to travel from other European summer destinations.

Christoforidis, who helped bring the concept of farm-to-table catering to Greece before it was all the rage, said that in the past two months his club has seen more business than in 2020.

It also helps that the spot is fully open and cool due to the Mykonos breeze. This allows visitors to stay socially at a distance even when eating or swimming without a face mask.

Some influencers who have enjoyed visits to SantAnna this summer include model Gemma Lenoci, fashion designer Evalinda and model Giada Folcia.

Katikies

Located on the beautiful beach of Agios Ioannis, Katikies offers postcard-worthy views of Mykonos and the crisp, white and blue aesthetic that is notoriously associated with the island.

The hotel’s luxury villas feature private pools, ocean-facing lounge chairs, and glamorous guestrooms, perfect for a relaxing honeymoon or chic summer getaway.

Although the Katikies transport system makes it easy to explore the bustling center of Mykonos and its many dining options, the hotel has its own gourmet restaurant and bar, where one can sample a range of wine pairings. and Mediterranean seafood.

During the pandemic, the Katikies team made sure to “closely follow the guidelines and recommendations set out by the Greek government, EFET Hellenic Food Authority, the World Health Organization and other relevant local authorities in the fight against COVID-19, ”they said.

They also guarantee the ecological disinfection of each room and mattress, ensured by PureSpace.

Over the years, Katikies has hosted some of Hollywood’s biggest celebrities and has attracted a host of fashion stars and travelers this summer. Model Marietta Chrousala enjoyed a stay at the property, as did actress and singer Sienna Hollen and lifestyle blogger Lauren Elyce.

Bohemian & Nomad

The most charming sister hotels in Mykonos—Bohemia and Nomadic-are entirely different in style and mood, but both offer ultra-exclusive and relaxing vacation experiences.

The atmosphere of Bohème is modern, elegant and dynamic. The hotel is a short walk from Mykonos’ famous windmills and fashionable Little Venice.

But being close to Mykonos Town’s nightlife doesn’t affect the hotel’s serene seaside vibe – in fact, it’s the best of both worlds for travelers. After a day of shopping, dining and exploring the city, visitors can retreat to their luxury suites, complete with private balconies and Jacuzzis.

Bohemian’s mature sister, Nomad, is elegant, brooding, and peaceful.

Each piece of decor in the hotel is handpicked, and the architecture is simple but refined. Soft, earthy and gray tones create a calming atmosphere, which echoes the tranquil mountainous landscape upon which the hotel is built.

Every aspect of the property allows you to feel anchored and connected to nature. It’s the perfect secluded escape within the bustling island.

Bohème and Nomad have implemented Greece’s certified “Health First” action plan to fight COVID-19, and all rooms and facilities are disinfected using PureSpace and Diversey products.

Kenshō Psarou

The Greek Islands pride themselves on their fresh seafood and crisp, fine white wine. And it’s places like Kenshō Psarou– which stayed afloat during the pandemic and attracted foodies from all over the world with its delicious menu – which are worth a visit.

The restaurant of the beach hotel, run by the chef Ippokratis is one of the most romantic and inventive of Mykonos. The Greek menu is influenced by Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, and even features French elements. Surprisingly, all cuisines blend together perfectly, creating an unforgettable dining experience.

Nice and easy

Christoforidis, the founder of SantAnna, also directs Nice and easy, which is a much more laid back version of its prestigious beach club. The small restaurant is located in the heart of Mykonos Town and offers the most incredible sea view on the island.

Since alfresco dining is the only option, Nice n Easy has become the place to dine for many travelers, especially during the pandemic. Plus, the sunset views you get from the dinner table are hard to match.

The menu, like SantAnna’s, is “healthy gourmet” and each dish is made with fresh, local and seasonal ingredients.

The name of the hotspot was inspired by Frank Sinatra’s legendary song “Nice ‘n’ Easy”.

Super paradisiacal beach club

If you are looking for a summer party without coronavirus, Super paradisiacal beach club is the place to be. Visitors can not only enjoy a day of sunbathing and drinking on the sparkling white sand beach, but they can also sit down for a five-course meal at the club’s restaurant, where Greek rosé flows like wine. water.

Visitors can check the club’s website for event details – there are plenty of them – each week and pick their favorite party in front of the clear turquoise sea of Mykonos.

Indonesia’s newest 5-star luxury hotel is also Langham’s premier hotel in South East Asia.

The 223-room property, which opened on September 9, is located in District 8 at SCBD and includes, among other things, a 336m² Presidential Suite and Chef Tom Aikens’ very first restaurant in the area.

To learn more about The Langham, Jakarta and what sets it apart from the sheer number of 5-star competitors in the city, TravelNewsAsia.com’s Steven Howard sat down with Gaylord Lamy, the hotel’s general manager.

In this exclusive interview, filmed on Skype on September 21, 2021, Steven asks how the hotel’s development plans and design changed knowing COVID19 was here to stay, what challenges the hotel faced in recruiting the right caliber of staff and what technology the hotel has incorporated into the rooms and public spaces.

We discuss the smooth opening of the hotel, how many rooms the hotel has made available to guests, and when the remaining rooms will open.

We’re also talking about the hotel’s F&B outlets, Gaylord tells us what guests can expect from Langham’s Club Lounge, how Tom’s by Tom Aikens has been received by residents of Jakarta and if guests should be concerned about pricing and the kind of food they can look forward to. at the restaurant.

With notoriously bad traffic in the city, hotel bars have often made a huge difference to a property’s RevPAR and occupancy rates, especially with the very large business market, so Steven asks if Tom’s. also acts as a bar and what other F&B outlets are expected to open in the coming weeks and months.

As Gaylord loves to run, you will also learn what type of jogging routes are in the area and much more in the video and podcast below.

A mother of two claims her family received moldy bread during quarantine at a London hotel that looked like “a five-star prison”.

Rizwana Nadeem, 40, claimed her family were fed moldy pita bread while staying at the Millennium Gloucester hotel in Kensington on September 7.

The family of four stayed at the hotel between September 2 and 12 after visiting a critically ill relative in Pakistan.

Rizwana said the hotel served them lunch on September 7 and her husband and six-year-old son ate theirs while she was on a business visit.

She claims that she went to eat hers after the call and noticed that the pitta bread they were given was moldy.

But by then her husband Nadeem Subhani and her son Abu-Bakr had already eaten most of theirs.

Rizwana claims her six-year-old son Abu-Bakr fell ill after eating moldy bread while staying at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington.

She said: “My husband has been sick once during the night and my son has been sick at least three or four times.

“It really upset me – my son is a pretty sensitive boy – he was born prematurely, so he’s very prone to infections so I was very worried about him.

“Fortunately, I had some medicine on me. It took about 24 to 48 hours for her to get back to her normal state.

“I was so worried about him. Even when I gave him water all night, he was sick.”

The South Kensington Hotel in Harrington Gardens is rated 3.5 / 5 on Trip Advisor and the cheapest room for two adults costs around £ 113 per night, at the time of writing.

Rizwana said she immediately complained to the hotel about the food and was offered ice cream as an apology.

She also claimed she asked to leave the hotel after her family got sick – but was told she couldn’t leave.

She said: “It was literally like being in a five star prison because we weren’t allowed to leave the building without a security guard.

“It is a horrible experience to have two children. It is completely unacceptable.”

One of the Rizwana pitta bread claims his family was donated by the hotel

Rizwana claimed the hotel room also contained a broken lamp and a table with nowhere to eat properly, meaning her family had to eat on the floor or on beds.

She showed the Local Democracy Reporting Service that the 10-day stay cost the family over £ 4,000. Rizwana has also asked the hotel for financial compensation but is still awaiting a response.

She continued, “It upsets me and upsets me that we paid so much money and this is how we were treated.

“After the incident I was completely put off, I felt really depressed, especially seeing my son vomiting like he has been doing constantly all night.

“For about three nights, I didn’t sleep.”

A spokesperson for the Kensington and Chelsea Council said an environmental health official spoke to Rizwana and the hotel on September 7 and a full hygiene inspection was taking place today.

They added, “Our Environmentally Healthy Food team has a 24 hour initial response to deal with complaints.

“The compliance history of these premises has been very good before and it is currently ranked five for food hygiene.

“Obviously this is now being used as a quarantine hotel, so [it is] Importantly, we verify that compliance is still maintained to high standards as part of today’s inspection. “

Quarantine hotels must provide guests with three meals a day, WiFi, welfare and health assistance.

According to Public Health England, the hotel quarantine fee covers the cost of transportation from the airport to the hotel, ten days in a 4/5 star hotel, three meals a day, security, medical care and two PCR tests.

A government spokesperson said: ‘Protecting the public is our top priority and the robust border and testing regime we have in place helps minimize the risk of new variants entering the UK.

“We’re doing everything we can to make sure clients in managed quarantine get the support they need.

“Quarantine hotels must provide guests with three appropriate meals per day, access to WIFI, social and health assistance, and we expect them to do everything possible to meet guest needs or concerns. “

The Millennium Gloucester Hotel has been contacted for comment and referred the Local Democracy Information Service to Public Health England.
