Whether it’s a farm, yurt, or tiny home, new research from Airbnb has found Australians crave unique getaways, and even if they can’t travel for at the moment, planning for this next trip is definitely underway.

Specifically, searches for unique homes have nearly doubled (up 94% *) since the start of the pandemic, with a third of Australia’s 100 most searched listings on Airbnb being considered unique stays (including a tram and a tree house).

In the first three months of 2021, searches for yurts by Australians increased by 80% (compared to the last three months of 2020). Demand for mini houses has increased 76%, while interest in farm stays is also soaring with searches up 66%.
