An 18-year-old died after a shooting at a house party at an Airbnb in Elk Grove, authorities say. The shooting occurred in the Bowmont Way and Brandamore Court area around 2 a.m., the Elk Grove Police Department said in a release. Officers found the man inside the home and took rescue action. He died at the scene, according to police. Investigators say the house was an Airbnb rental used as the site for a party with around 10 to 15 people. Most people had left by the time police arrived, authorities said. Airbnb issued the following statement: “We are deeply saddened by the events that transpired here last night. Airbnb prohibits parties and we take this information very seriously and have opened an investigation. We support the host and are in contact with the Elk Grove Police Department to support their investigation.” Airbnb also said the listing had been removed from its site as the investigation continued. The booking guest account has also been deleted. A suspect has not been identified and it is unclear what led to the shooting.
